Where Jesus Christ is still changing lives!

Dear Friends,
I was born and raised in Rock Spring, Georgia, where I attended Center Grove Baptist Church with my family. Though I grew up in a Christian family that faithfully taught me the Word of God, I turned away from the Lord when I was a teenager. I rejected God and His Word in favor of living life my own way by my own rules. After graduating from high school, I got married to my high school sweetheart and moved out of my parents’ home. I no longer attended Church and I continued to ignore God and His Word. I tried what the world had to offer, in a self-centered attempt to find personal happiness, but I only became more miserable in the end. Just when I was becoming sure that life had no purpose and that there was no help for me, God gave me another chance.
While traveling alone one night, I was under such conviction over my sinfulness that I cried out to God, saying, “If You are real and You would forgive someone like me, please speak to me through Your Word. All my life, I’ve heard people say that You have spoken to them through Your Word, but You’ve never spoken to me.” The problem was that I had never been listening for His voice before that moment. I opened the Bible that night and the first verse I saw was a message straight from God to me. In Psalm 107:1, the Bible advised me, “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever!”
For the next week, I tried to tell myself that it was all just a coincidence, but deep down I knew that God had spoken to me. God had told me that He did exist and that through His mercy He would even forgive someone like me! My family and I returned to the Church where I grew up on the very next Sunday. It was there that I heard how Jesus Christ provided God’s mercy through dying in my place. Though I knew He was trying to draw me to Himself that day, I did not respond. But the next Sunday morning, March 14th, 1999, I stopped worrying about what people would think of me and I went forward to the altar, where I asked Jesus to save and change my life. Since then, my life has become living proof that He answered that prayer!
Over the next few months, I learned just how good God had been to me in my marriage and in everything else. I also learned what it is like to be a part of a Church where the Good News of Jesus Christ is being proclaimed and where those who choose to believe can be discipled. I became very involved in the Church and by October of 1999, I became certain that God had called me to preach and so I committed my life to His service.
Since then, God has been training me for the task of my life. That training has taken our family from our home in Northwest Georgia to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and from there to the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee. It has not always been easy following the Lord Jesus, but it has been worth it. Our family has faced many a crisis, such as the loss of one of our children, but God has always been with us and has blessed us through it all.
My goal is to take what I have learned from following Jesus and pass it on to you. I simply want to teach others to love Jesus, so that they will love others enough to do the same. Please join me in the effort to exalt the Savior that died for us, to equip those that he has saved, and to evangelize sinners like you and me!
Sincerely,
Jonathan Witt

My Favorite Verses:
"Oh, give thanks to the LORD,
for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever!"
(Psalm 107:1)
"For Christ did not send me to baptize,
but to preach the gospel,
not with wisdom of words,
lest the cross of Christ
should be made of no effect.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."
(1 Cor. 1:17-18)
"For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
(Philippians 2:13)
